Montgomery County, Texas Police Arrest 62 Suspected DUIs Over Memorial Day Weekend

Over Memorial Day weekend last month, police in Montgomery County alone arrested 62 suspected drunk drivers, many of whom had prior DUIs, through “Operation Blackout.”

During “Operation Blackout,” police employed heavy patrols over a five-day period in an attempt to catch drivers under the influence. By the end of the weekend, police had arrested 62 people. 60 people were charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and 2 were charged with boating while intoxicated.

Of the 62 people arrested, 42 were arrested on a first DWI, 10 on a second DWI, and 4 on a third or subsequent DWI. Four of the suspects were arrested on DWI with a child. 9 of the suspects face felony charges and 28 had warrants issued for blood alcohol and drug tests.

When you are arrested on suspicion of DWI, it’s important to seek experienced legal counsel as soon as possible. Pleading guilty is not your only option; there are often many weaknesses in the case against you and an experienced defense lawyer can seek to have your charges dismissed or reduced so you can potentially keep your license.
